Coggins Quick Test (Elisa)

The Ivor Regional Health Lab will no longer  process ELISA test  while you wait.  Instead, ELISA tests will be processed in a group, once each day, late in the afternoon. Results for ELISA tests will usually be available before the end of the day (4:30). Clients may pick up the results or have them faxed.  Please plan accordingly.

Dr. Garrett Edwards,  Dr. Cathy Lombardi or

Dr. Shanna French are available for your equine, cattle, goat or sheep care. They provide wellness programs tailored to your needs.  These include examination and consultation for disease prevention, dentistry, vaccines, dewormers, and ultrasound imagery.

We are pleased to announce a new addition to our veterinary team.

Dr. Jessica Mattingly will be joining us in November.

IN ORDER TO BETTER SERVE YOU, WE WOULD LIKE TO ASK FOR A LITTLE HELP…

  1. Please plan ahead for yearly Coggins, vaccines and dental needs.

  2.  We work hard to be on-time for all scheduled appointments.  However, when emergencies occur, we deal with them as quickly as possible.  We appreciate your patience should an emergency make us late for your appointment.  As you know, we will be there for you should you need us for emergencies.

  3.  When you call to schedule an appointment, please let us know what needs to be done at that appointment so we can schedule the appropriate amount of time.  If there are unexpected “add-ons” when the doctor arrives, the extra time needed will make the doctor late for the next appointment. Please leave all phone numbers when making the appointment.

  4. If your neighbor needs veterinary work done at the same time we are doing veterinary work for you, please ask your neighbor to call us ahead of time and set up their own appointment to coincide with yours. This will enable us to set up a clinic record for them, to discuss billing and to allot the appropriate amount of time for each of your appointments.

  5. We offer two pre-paid, discounted Wellness Programs, each of which includes a physical exam, selected vaccines and Coggins, as well as a nutrition assessment and a dental exam.  If you are enrolled in either of these two Wellness Programs, you are eligible for other discounted services.

  6. Unless prior arrangements have been made with Linda Williams, the bill must be paid at time service is rendered.

  7.  For an appointment for equine or farm services, please contact Linda Williams.  To discuss billing issues, speak to Karen Woodcock. For your convenience we have added 2 new phone numbers: (757) 365-4887 or toll free (888) 365-4887.

  8. If a Doctor recommends a float at a later date or your horse's vaccines need to be boostered, please call the clinic to schedule. Vaccines need to be boostered within 3-4 weeks to be fully effective.

THANK YOU

Equine Wellness Program

The Oaks Veterinary Clinic is proud to offer specially designed wellness packages to to provide the highest level of care to the horse and most value for the owner.

A critical portion of our wellness program is an annual physical exam.  This allows our large animal veterinarians to get to know your horse, identify medical problems early before they result in emergencies or a prolonged setback, and discuss important preventative medicine topics such as dental care, parasite control, and nutrition.

In addition to the exam, your horses will receive needed vaccines and annual coggins tests. Horses are vulnerable to a wide rang of neurological, respiratory, reproductive, and other diseases.  Fortunately, most are preventable through routine vaccines.  Disease prevention is the cornerstone of equine wellness.

The following additional vaccines and services  are offered to our Equine Wellness Program participants at a discount:

   Strangles (intra-nasal)

   Potomac  Horse Fever

   Pneumabort-K (for pregnant mares)

The following routine services are offered at a 5% discount to horses enrolled in a wellness program for the year they are enrolled:
