About Us

You may call 757.357.2324 and make an appointment during our regular business hours:
Monday – Friday 8.00 am – 6.00 pm
Saturday 8.00 am – 12.00 pm

We offer drop-off services if your busy work schedule does not allow you to make an appointment during our regular business hours. You may drop-off your pet as early as 7:30 am and pick up before close of that day for a charge.
Pick-up Hours for Boarders on Weekends and Holidays:

8.00 am and 5.00 pm

The clinic offers a full range of health care products (prescription diets, vitamins, flea and tick control products, grooming supplies, and medications) for maintaining the health of your pet and its environment.

Meet Our Staff

  1. Dr. Ryland B. Edwards Jr.
    Dr. Edwards has been practicing here in Smithfield since 1966.  Dr. Edwards is married, has two sons and five grandchildren. On their farm live their dog Violet, several cats, cows and horses.
  2. Dr. Sharon O'Rawe
    Dr. O'Rawe and her husband have two daughters,  three horses, a dog and a cat.  Her special interest in veterinary medicine is nutrition. Outside of work she enjoys endurance riding.
  3. Dr. Amy Bowman
    Dr. Bowman's special interests include preventive & internal medicine. She lives in Smithfield with her husband, Steve, son Connor, two dogs, Cy and Bay, and a cat, Mittens.  She enjoys boating, traveling and reading.
  4. Dr. Erica Clark
    Dr. Clark is passionate about preventative medicine and understands that pets are important four legged members of our families. She lives in Smithfield with her husband Benjamin and three children.  She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and anything outdoors. 
  5. Dr. Zack Hogge
    Dr. Hogge grew up in Smithfield and attended Virginia Tech for both undergraduate and veterinary school. Upon completion of veterinary school, he performed a one-year rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at a private referral hospital in North Carolina. Outside of work, he is an avid waterfowler with his Labrador Retriever, enjoys carving waterfowl decoys and spending time on the water with his friends/family.
  6. Tracey Ellis
    Tracey attended Eastern Mennonite College and Blue Ridge Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology.   Tracey has one son, as well as three dogs.  Her interests include stained glass, gardening and glass blowing
  7. Kristina Castner
    Kristina is a native of Smithfield, VA and graduated from Smithfield High School and a graduate of Blue Ridge Community College distance education program for Veterinary Technology.  She is married and has 3 children.  Kristina has a cat named Ronan and a dog named Mavis.
  8. Shannon Sulin
    Shannonis a graduate of the Pruden center for animal assistance and the Blue Ridge Community College distance education program. She and her husband live in Waverly with their daughter, two dogs named Crash and Fergus and 2 cats.
  9. Sherrie Sherry
    Sherrie is originally from Waterford, WI.  She is married,  has 2 sons, 2 grandsons and a granddaughter.  Her interests include quilting and reading.  Sherrie is our accomplished groomer. She has one dog named Oreo.
  10. Karon Amorose
    Karon was born in Oklahoma. She now lives in Surry with her husband and 3 dogs.
  11. Susan Forbes
    Susan was born in New York. She now lives in Waverly with her husband and their 2 dogs, 3 cats and multiple chickens.
  12. Mary Devoss
    Mary earned a BA degree in Psychology from Mary Washington College.Mary and her husband reside in the Crittenden section of Suffolk. They have two cats.
  13. Nicole Alexander
    Nicole moved with her husband to Smithfield from Germany, where they share their household with three dogs, eight cats and multiple chickens.
